About the artwork
Nix relishes the use of various media in her work. Old and new media support Nix’s exploration of past and present ideas and minds.
‘Of my mind’ a precious jewel like work, combines traditional hand made cyanotype print making from the 19th Century with the tools of the 21st Century. Firstly Nix takes welsh poppies from the roadside in Hampstead London. Next they are carefully composed into a magical mysterious scene. After that, she exposes the composition to direct sunlight. Finally Nix washes the exposed paper multiple times in water and dries the artwork.
Nix uses a digital photograph of the cyanotype to add elements from her imagination. Her keen eye for colour and composition along with the use of digital tools bring together nature's creation and the mind of man.
